“Change” – the word itself is scary enough to think about a person’s life or behavior. People get comfortable to continue the daily routine and day to day life rather than bringing unwanted chaos after a small change. Same goes for me as well. I always like to read about fictional stories and writings. It helps my brain develop enough dopamine to continue reading the same genre. So when I stumbled upon this book, It took almost  a month to read and finish it. I must say “It’s worth it”. I put my hands in the non-fictional genre for a change and it is a hit. Let’s dive into the learnings and findings from the book.

Description –

“Manifest – 7 steps to living your best life” by Roxie Nafousi is a non-fictional book which is a guide for self help and self love. Anyone wants to feel empowered, motivated and achieve their life goals, even if it feels impossible. This book is going to give 7 best pieces of advice with practical examples to overcome all the doubts and let the person work towards the goal they have dreamt of. When science mixes with wisdom, the result is something extraordinary.

Review –

  • The book has been written in simple words, backed up with practical examples, which made it easier to learn and understand the concepts the author was trying to describe.
  • The hard binding and color of the book, with a total of 150 pages, makes it more interesting to read especially if someone is not very fond of non-fictional books like myself.
  • Scientific facts and lines were interesting and I could relate them with my own life.
  • Even if you know the points mentioned in the books and wonder “Aah I have known this in my entire life, what’s the point of reading it again” , still knowing the stuff randomly vs making a sequential pattern has a huge difference. So the author has put her best effort to talk point to point without unnecessary jargons in a sequential manner.

Key Points I learnt –

  • Think about what you want to achieve in your life and visualize the outcome of your planned life and goals.
  • Overcome self doubt, low self esteem beliefs and work with positive attitudes.
  • Change language. For example – replace ‘Ifs’ with when and talk positive affirmations to yourself.
  1. I am worthy of it.
  2. I can do it.
  3. I enjoy my professional life.
  4. When I join my dream college rather than if I join my dream college.
  • Self love is the foundation for all the steps of manifestation. Value yourself and stop comparing. Do stuff for yourself. May it be skincare, hair care, drinking plenty of water and spending time doing things you love the most.
  • Learn from your past mistakes and move on.Make sure not to repeat it.
  • We need to put efforts towards achieving the goal we set for ourselves. Just thinking and writing them down won’t help. Remember the universe will bless those who put efforts and do things instead of sitting and whining.
  • The law of attraction says that what you think about the most, you will attract them into your life.
  • There should no place for the word “Procrastination*”. If the brain says to do something towards your goal, you should start within 5 seconds of the thoughts that occurred. Else the brain will kill the idea.
  • Do not give up when faced with challenges. Challenges are nothing but opportunities to learn.
  • Improvise your daily habit to accommodate with the work you wish to do with your goal and maintain consistency.
  • While working towards your goal, sometimes you face rejection. You would feel demoralized and unmotivated to start again from square one. Still Keep going. “Keep Going” is the only mantra to make the universe bless you with your desired output.
  • The author has mentioned one point which is my favorite in the book.

“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.”

  • Embrace gratitude without any conditions. We attract what we feel. If we think “I am happy, but I could have done better”, then we are saying subconsciously that we have failed and our brain will train accordingly. Be positive. Have gratitude even for a smaller achievement.
  • You come across people within family and friends. By knowing their achievements you get jealous as they are the things you desired the most in your life. Jealousy is a feeling of negativity. Instead change and take this as inspiration. Keep on saying “I also can do it”. Universe has an abundance of supplies to distribute among all. Little effort and perfect timing can make you achieve everything.
  • Finally have the belief that everything will fall into place at a perfect time. Have trust in the Universe and start working. Putting in a 5 min effort is better than doing nothing at all.

Conclusion –

Overall the book is inspiring. Even if I took some time to read it, at the end of the book I felt motivated and empowered and started visualizing my own goals. I would recommend everyone to have the book in the TBR list and read at least once.

*Procrastination – If you wish to learn how to overcome procrastination, read the book “Eat that frog” by Brian Tracy. Here is the link to my review of the book.
