Nowadays social media especially instagram has been playing a significant role in connecting people, creating communities for like minded people and making all the information handy to the youth. Why should I keep myself from the luxury of accessing information without a hitch ? So I also started my instagram journey and started a book review business account(https://www.instagram.com/nicky_books_world/) and connected with bookstagram friends. Through this I have come across lots of new release books and getting to know different authors and their works. The book I am going to review today is “Fourth Wing” by Rebecca Yarros. This book I was seeing lots of posts and positive reviews but I was packed with other books to read. So I didn’t give much attention to it. Then one of my college friends recommended this book and I thought okay now is the time I should pick this and read. Without further ado, let’s dive into the book.

About the book –

  • Book Name – Fourth Wing (1st book of Empyrean series)
  • Author – Rebecca Yarros
  • Genre – Fantasy, Fiction, Magic school, Dragon
  • Pages – 499
  • Publication – Red Tower Books

Description –

The book is based on fictional magic school called Basgiath, where students enrolled for prestigious rider positions to picked up by a dragon and save the border of the country from foreign invasion. In the 3 years course either the student will die or graduate to hold a prestigious and socially recognised higher position to serve the nation of Navarre. The school is no place for a weak heart and crippled body, yet Violet joined the school by force of her mother. Instead of having all the reasons to fail she used her mind and help from friends to overcome her weakness, strengthen herself and finally become a rider. In the first academic year she met the wing commander Xaden Riorson who had reasons to hate Violet as her mother was the main reason for his parents death. Yet a sizzling romance comes into existence.

The lives of Navarre citizens, school life, extremely hard academic courses, friendship, betrayal, romance and lots of dragons.

My Review –

What a book man, what a book !!!

  • I am absolutely in love with the genre, content, characters, magical powers and dragons. I love the way the book shows maps of the country and school. It made it easier for readers to understand and imagine the location of the fictional world.
  • First chapter started with the vulnerable Violet and how her mother forced her to join the school and by the end of the chapter it made me curious on how she is going to survive the brutal course of the school and I couldn’t put down the book.
  • Slowly characters get added to the plot and I was completely involved with the affairs of Basgiath. I felt as if I myself was on the journey of becoming a rider.
  • The way the author has introduced Xaden Riorson, male protagonist It made my heart skip a bit. I was awestruck with the handsomeness of the man and looked into the internet for a fan made reference of the character.
  • Dragons are interactive and can communicate with humans. It made the book more interesting to read. The connection and communication they were making with their rider was engrossing.
  • The sizzling romance and emotions sparked between Violet and Xaden is out of the world. I enjoyed each and every moment they stayed together. They had a very unique way of communicating with each other. It blew my mind away. I am not going to spoil it though.

Conclusion –

This is the best book I have ever read in the fantasy genre. I loved each and every character, plots, imaginary country and its citizens, friendship, betrayal, kindness, romance and conspiracy. Whatever ingredients needed to brew a good novel, this book has everything I would say. After reading it, I searched for hours for more additional details and looked at a fan made trailer of it. Amazon has taken charge to release the film adaptation of this one and I can’t wait to watch it. So don’t be late. If you haven’t read it yet, go and get a copy immediately. It will never disappoint you.
