When I was preparing to set my foot on this magnificent world, unaware of hardship and misery that was awaiting along with happiness and peace, the world was preparing to witness and write history that would come as a topic in today’s post. Jokes apart, as I was not in a condition to understand what was going on outside when I was born, currently I had to search on the internet to get an overview of the year. This was fascinating to get to know the events that had happened and you have no clue about the same. It is fun digging into history. Here are a few events I found worth sharing.
- Harshad Mehta Scam
The Scam of Harshad Mehta was exposed by journalist Sucheta Dalal, which consisted of SBI 500 Crore Scam and illegal usage of loopholes in banking system.
- Attack on the Babri Masjid
Members of Vishva Hindu Parishad(VHP, World Hindu Council) tore down a 16th century Mosque which was built by Moghal emperor Babur in early 16th century located in Ayodhya. They claimed this mosque to be built after demolishing an hindu temple. They also reported to Allahabad court that during the demolition time, the mosque was not in suitable condition for people to use. This sparks off communal riots all across India causing over 3000 people to die.
- Establishment of SEBI
The government of India established SEBI (Security and Exchange Board of India) which regulates the security and commodity market in India.
- Satyajit Ray’s Oscar winning and his demise
Satyajit Ray, India’s renowned film writer, lyricist, director, documentary filmmaker brought home the prestigious Academy award for his work in cinema and in the same year he passed away due to heart attack at age of 70.
- Establishment of popular hindi entertainment channel ZTV
Zee Television, a Hindi language satellite and cable television station, the first officially regular broadcasting service started in Mumbai.
- SRK debut movie “Deewana” released
“Deewana” , the debut movie of Shah Rukh Khan has been released this year and after that there is no looking back for him.
- Attack of Veerapan gang resulting in killing of 6 police officers
Veerappan Gang Trapped and killed Mysore District SP, T.Harikrishna, SI Shakeel Ahmed and four constables named Benegonda, C.M.Kalappa, Sundara and M.P.Appachu, through a false informant near Meenyam in Karnataka.
If anyone can guess the year, yes you are right. All of these happened in 1992 along with the birth of a prominent writer. That’s Me !!!!
