“World’s best girlfriend” by Durjoy Dutta is my 2nd read of his book. I went to the author’s book signing event and got this signed copy from him with a selfie of course. So let’s dive into the plot and my honest opinion on the book.
Description
Aanchal and Daksh are living in two different worlds, where Aanchal is struggling to live a better life whereas Daksh, son of an engineer, has a stable life in Dubai. Their journey started when they met in Andaman on a holiday package. After enough interactions during the 7 day holidays, Aanchal considered Daksh to belong to a rich family as they could afford staying in foreign country whereas her own family is struggling to afford basic things in life. Aanchal is highly motivated to study well and get a proper job to improve the quality of her life.
After a few years when they met again in an unexpected place, their memories of first interactions are still fresh and intact with a little twist. Life has happened and both faced lots of changes. But they could still feel the same attraction after these many years. This time they got to know each other better to get separated once again.
From seventeen to their thirties, their life has been an eventful and roller coaster ride. Will they meet again ? Will they overcome the huddle and painful past ? or will they sink in the deep ocean of life ?
My Review
Pros
- This is a contemporary fiction romance book full of drama with twists and turns. One can get a good glimpse of Indian lifestyle and can deep dive into a middle class family, relate to the values and thinking of a mediocre family.
- As described from two characters(Aanchal and Daksh) point of view, readers can get proper understanding of the actions each one has performed and can emphasize from both sides.
- A toxic relationship is very much unhealthy both physically and mentally. The author has described the above very well.
- The author has ended the book in such a point that readers have no option other than buying the second part of the book to get a closure.
Cons
- The book is specifically intended for the younger generation. Teenage romance, misunderstandings and immature ways of handling things are few scenarios which a particular age group people would like.
Conclusion
Overall I enjoyed reading this book. I could relate a lot of scenarios described in the book with my personal life. The book has described early teenage till 30s which showcased the growth and accomplishments in life. Now, just like any other reader, I eagerly await the second part of this book to unravel the story the author has in store for us.
