If the journey of success consists of hard work, dedication and determination; staying motivated to reach the finish line should also be a part of it. If you stay motivated and never lose your focus then, you have completed half of your journey. When I was in high school, I had a lot to study and covered lots of syllabus within a few months. It was one of the toughest periods anyone can think of. I was in a dilemma and under pressure. During that time my father had shared a few pieces of advice, which I remember to date and whenever I faced any difficulty, these kept me motivated and helped me move forward.
- There is no substitution for hard work.
- And hard work never goes in vain.
It is also important to stay motivated for a longer period, If you find it hard to remain motivated, read along, I have revealed the time-tested tricks which I follow every day.
1. First plan your day ahead
Before going to sleep at night, plan what all the things you are going to do for the next day. This will train your brain during sleep and help you wake up early.
2. Use sticky notes
Make a sticky note for each thing you planned for and stick it in a place which you can always see. Once you complete a task, take the paper out and store it in a box called “Completed”. The tasks which you couldn’t complete because of some unavoidable circumstance, are in another box called “Incomplete”.
Then when you go back to sleep at night, repeat the process. But this time add the incomplete tasks to your list as priority.
3. Maintain Consistency
For the first few days, plan less number of tasks and try to complete them on the same day. Once you get acquainted with the system, increase your tasks and pace accordingly. We like to see unbroken winning streaks, don’t we?
4. Reward Yourself
Make short-term goals. Per day, Per week, Per month goals, etc. Once you achieve or finish one milestone, give yourself a nice treat or anything you wished for before but never had. For example give yourself the vacation you always wanted or visit a show you always wanted to.
